Men’s baseball caps first appeared in Brooklyn, New York on, you guessed it, a baseball team. They changed over the years, the brim becoming longer and the material becoming, more often, cotton or cotton/polyester blend than the original wool. Now, they come in environmentally friendly hemp which is better for sun resistance. Today they are common in many sports as diverse as tennis, golf and car racing and have been made popular by Steven Spielberg and Spike Lee. They are generally a good hat to have for outdoor activities as well as for a fashion statement.
There are many varieties of men’s baseball caps such as low profile caps, structured caps, “trucker” hats and each kind has a logo or emblem, embroidery or 3D digital logo in front to make the hat special for someone. They come in every conceivable color including two tone and several kinds of camouflage. Some ranger hats have a flat top and “railroad” caps have fold-up ear flaps.
Men’s baseball caps are the ultimate fashion statement. Structured caps look good and are used for military uniforms with the rank embroidered on the front, or, in the complete opposite direction low profile caps look perfect for playing beach volley ball. Trucker caps are made of mesh with a Styrofoam front usually with a logo or advertising and are give-aways. Designer caps can be leather and very stylized with the designers logo on the front. Usually, mens baseball caps have logo or letters from the military, a city, state or any sport team from Major League Baseball to little league.
Customizing a large quantity of mens baseball caps with logos, company’s names and contact information are great advertising because people will not simply discard something so useful. It is also a grand gesture to give each employee in your company, yes even the women, a cap with the company logo or even a statement such as “great team player”. It makes each individual feel appreciated and part of a bigger picture.
Men’s baseball caps have become, in the last fifty years, the favorite of not only sportsmen but their wives, tourists all over the world and any politician who wants to look like a man of the people. Rappers and grandma gardeners wear them. The reason for this broad attraction is the comfort and usefulness available in one small cap. The cap can be stylish or humdrum depending on the color, insignia embroidered on the front, style, either structured or low profile and most of all how it is worn.
Is the brim straight in the front? Is it off to one side? Or is it turned around so the brim is in the back? Is it clean and integrated with the rest of the outfit or is it distressed, overly washed and frayed to look like an old friend? Actually, it is all of the above depending on your mood and activities. Baseball caps are basically not expensive so its easy to have one for every occasion.
